This afternoon I took a leap of faith and, for the very first time, put together our SAD alerting behavior chain.
New cue (odor) Old cue (Bump) Behavior (Raya bumps my leg or torso per criteria)

I had 1/2 stick of string cheese left over from this mornings Distance training.
Raya was hungry and impatient for the cheese reward, which made her bumps more demanding, which is what I wanted, actually.
Will video tomorrow.

Flow

I LOVE it when Denise Fenzi posts something about Obedience and it's actually about Nosework 🤣.... This is a post in the FDSA Alumni page... In Nosework I refer to "Flow".... which is the intentional shift of focus between Environment - Task (Search) - Handler.... which is made possible and easy by the magical use of ROUTINE in our case.... everything is done on purpose and Routine occurs from the moment you take your dog out of the van or crate and only stops until your dog is finished with the party and goes back into the van or crate.... Routine covers the entire staging process while you wait for your turn and again in how you reward effort on the way back, after the search. In the search, Flow also refers to the full engagement of the dog in searching (not all sniffing is searching....) and how we reward for hides so that we ease into the next hide and sustain a single behavior chain. The result of Flow and Routine.... is a Confident and Engaged dog.....
